Now also Sportcity 250 Cube

Postby F10Pilot » Sun Aug 21, 2016 5:39 pm

So a few weeks ago I got a pretty solid deal on this 2009 Aprilia SC250 with about 13k miles on the clock.

I changed the fluids and added - Malossi X-Kev belt with 10g Dr Pulley sliders, Puig windscreen which I modified slightly, Akra exhaust, Polini dual stage air filter, and checked the valves which is about a 20 minute job on these.

This things an utter beast. The stock puig mounts are borderline even without the laminar lip I added. So bolted aluminum bar from the turn signal mounts in the only documented useful application of US spec turn signals on one of these bikes ever.

It's super all day comfortable now the Akra is quietly burbly until you get way on or off throttle then it sounds like a Moto3 bike. I thought it was the exact same Quasar as the GTS but it's actually a 288 version where they have a long and short block thing going on like a minarelli which is cute.

So far a really nice scooter. Very nimble around town but cruises at high speeds comfortably, phenomenal braking, the big wheels are also great off road, and when the road turns into ribbon candy you can haul cookies without even trying that hard.

Few more things in mind I'll post about later, and other things GTS and liquid cooled Malaguti on the project list as well.

Be well folks

Very nice. It's been interesting to see your scooter collection grow over the years. :D

AWESOME!

Man, I wouldn't mind my GTS taking 20 minutes for a valve check/adjustment! Heh. I really like the scooter! I have heard some reviews over the years that the Sportcity 250 really performs well. Congratulations on the sweet ride man!

Thanks guys! Performance is adequate I think the GTS has a bit more snap off the line but the SCs big wheels are nice at high speeds and off road. I prefer the conventional forks handling wise and the giant triple disks can really bite when needed.

Now I can get crackkalakin on my Malaguti and maybe shop for a vintage to complete the set.

We did a little group ride in the national park this past weekend. I got a helmet cam also. :D

...but can't seem to embed it in my posting

Awesome looking scooter, F10Pilot. I'm considering buying the same model with 20k miles on it. How much did you pay for yours if I may ask?
